The Kamaya district, with approximately 140 residential houses, was the center of the Okawa area and featured facilities such as a post office, a hair salon, and a clinic. The sea lay 3.7 kilometers to the east, with another settlement (the Nagatsura-Onosaki district) situated along the coast.
