Ishinomaki City is home to a number of unique leisure facilities, such as The Sant Juan Bautista Museum(displaying a life-sized replica of the Sant Juan Bautista galleon), The Ishinomori Manga Museum(devoted to the works of the famous manga artist Shotaro Ishinomori), Oshiak Whale Land(exhibitions concerning whales and the history of the whaling industry), and Ogatsu Suzuri Museum(preserving the traditional ink stone industry).
There are also various interesting events, with The Ishinomaki Kawabiraki Festival, Monou Friendship Festival, and The Oshika Whale Festival being just a few.
Foods such as oysters, Kinka Mackerel, amber clams and Ishinomaki rice, represent the rich food culture that can be found in Ishinomaki.
In addition to promoting our great variety of local products to all areas of Japan, thus stimulating our local economy and industries, both of which make the cornerstone of a prosperous city, we are trying to create “The One & Only City of Ishinomaki” where all our citizens can live in good health and happiness.
We are working ceaselessly to achieve these goals through emphasis on “Dialogue” with a true cross-section of our citizens, “Networking” among local communities and industries, and finally prompt “Action” to realize these goals from the local people’s point of view.
